What happens
Walter Lowery, a bank teller, recounts how his friend Jim Corbett, a young man from the wrong side of the tracks in San Francisco in 1890, gets into the exclusive Olympic Club. Jim first meets Vicki Ware, the daughter of a wealthy mining man, and they are sponsored into the club by her father. Jim's cocky manner makes him unwelcome among the club's members. This is the Screen Guild Theater's radio version of the Warner Brothers film Gentleman Jim, broadcast February 14, 1944, with Errol Flynn, Alexis Smith, Ward Bond and Grant Withers in the leading roles.
San Francisco in 1890, including a bank, the Olympic Club and its gymnasium, later the wider world of prize boxing.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
