What happens
Reporter Mac McNeal investigates a classified ad offering $5,000 for information about the 1932 killing of police officer Bundy. He meets Frank Wiecek's mother, who has scrubbed floors for years trying to raise the money to clear her imprisoned son. Frank insists he was home with his wife when the officer was shot, and McNeal starts to doubt the trial evidence, particularly the witness Fender Skutnik. The episode is a Screen Guild Theater production starring James Stewart, Ida Lupino and Richard Conte, first broadcast on October 7, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
