What happens
Laura Jessen, a contented wife and mother in an English country home, keeps her quiet evenings with her husband Fred, who is absorbed in his crossword. One ordinary afternoon at a railway refreshment room, Laura meets Dr. Alec Harvey after he helps remove a cinder from her eye. The two meet again on Thursdays in Milford, spending afternoons together at the pictures, a cafe and a walk, and each encounter draws them closer. Laura struggles with guilt over the lies she tells her husband. The series is Screen Guild Theater, first broadcast on May 12, 1947, with Herbert Marshall, Lily Palmer and Eric Snowden in the leading roles of this radio adaptation of Noel Coward's romance.

Listen for: The gentle, understated dialogue between Laura and Alec as their feelings for one another develop
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
