What happens
Anna Holm, a woman whose face was scarred in childhood, stands trial for murder in a Scandinavian courtroom. Her testimony recounts her years as a blackmailer, her encounter with Torsten Baring, and her meeting with plastic surgeon Dr. Gustav Seagert, who offers to rebuild her face. The Screen Guild Theater presents this Gulf-sponsored adaptation of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film A Woman's Face, broadcast on April 19, 1942, with Betty Davis, Osa Massen, Conrad Veidt and Warren William in the leading roles. This first part of the play ends with Anna's account of the events that led to her arrival at Seagert's hospital and the operation that follows.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
