What happens

Calamity Jane, the two-gun frontier woman, is sent by the governor to infiltrate a gang smuggling rifles and dynamite to Indians. Disguised as a wife, she joins a wagon train bound for Indian country, where she is married to Painless Peter Potter, a dentist who blunders into her plans. Their journey brings a series of comic mishaps, including a chase and a barrel standoff with attacking Indians. Bob Hope and Jane Russell star in this Screen Director's Playhouse adaptation of The Paleface, presented by RCA Victor, with director Norman McLeod. The broadcast does not give an air date beyond its listing.

The Old West, including a governor's mansion, Fort Deerfield, a wagon train heading for Indian country, and the frontier town of Buffalo Flats.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
