What happens

Freddie Hunter, a newspaper reporter from North Zanesville, Ohio, is sent to France to cover a contest prize trip for a troop of boy foresters, and he is not happy about the assignment. On the ship, he meets the glamorous Duchess Alexandria and her father, the Grand Duke Maximilian, whose family is bound for America to open a perfume shop. Freddie begins to pursue the Duchess while a mysterious card table murderer is discussed among the passengers. The episode is the Screen Director's Playhouse adaptation of the film The Great Lover, presented on NBC's All-Star Festival, with Bob Hope as Freddie and Rhonda Fleming as the Duchess.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
