What happens
Captain O'Flynn, a soldier of fortune returning to Ireland in 1797, meets Lady Benedetta after she and he fend off highwaymen on a night coach to Dublin. Benedetta is engaged to Lord Sedgemouth, who serves the Viceroy of Ireland. The Viceroy learns that Napoleon's general Van Drunk has taken refuge in Castle Knockmore, and Sedgemouth is sent to recruit a force against him. O'Flynn follows his own plans, and Benedetta's feelings toward him are put to the test. This is an episode of the Screen Director's Playhouse, first broadcast on April 7, 1950, starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in his original role, with Meg Randall as Lady Benedetta.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
