What happens
Alan Fowler, a reporter, finds Lorna Forbes in a run-down house in Oil City and asks who she really is. She tells him how she left Texas, worked as a model in New York and came to know Marty Blackford, a certified public accountant, after he helps her co-worker Ethel Whitehead. Ethel's life changes when Marty is drawn into the affairs of Mike Grady and the powerful George Castleman, and she begins to see that her own choices are involved too. Their story is told through the frame of the reporter's visit and the flashbacks it prompts.
New York City and Oil City, with a wholesale dress house, a nightclub and a Castleman mansion as key locations.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
