What happens

Mike Davis, an American who once guided hunters in South Africa, returns to the diamond town of Diamond Statt to recover a fortune in diamonds he left in the forbidden desert area controlled by the Diamond Syndicate. He meets Suzanne Reynault, a dancer, and clashes with Commandant Vogel of the diamond patrol, who had him whipped two years earlier. Davis wins money at poker and confronts Vogel, then arranges for a patrol driver to help him reach the diamond field. Bert Lancaster stars as Mike and Corinne Calvet as Suzanne in this Screen Director's Playhouse broadcast, presented by RCA Victor.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
