What happens

Assistant district attorney John Sargent and bail-bondsman-turned-driver Lee Leander, a jewelry thief, take a Christmas road trip together after she is released on bail. Sargent, who is prosecuting her, has been unable to find her a place to stay, and the two travel through Pennsylvania, Ohio and into Indiana. Their journey brings unexpected encounters with a suspicious farmer and a judge, and a visit to Lee's hometown that stirs up old family tensions. This episode from the Screen Director's Playhouse, adapting the 1951 film Remember the Night, stars William Holden and Nancy Gates. It aired on July 19, 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
