What happens

Dr. Perry Aswell, a child specialist, is visited in his office by Octavio Quagini, an eccentric painter who claims to feel nothing and to be a neurotic whose mother rejects him. Quagini spends the day observing the doctor's practice, and his unsettling attention turns toward Dr. Aswell's wife, April, and the tensions in their marriage. The Screen Director's Playhouse presents this 1951 radio adaptation of the comedy No Minor Vices, with Dana Andrews and Louis Jourdan starring in their original roles. The episode first aired on February 22, 1951, on NBC's All-Star Festival.

Characters: Dr. Perry Aswell, Octavio Quagini, April Aswell, Dr. Sturdevant, Mr. Darlington

Listen for: Quagini's odd, self-dramatizing monologues about his inner emptiness, and the sharp exchanges between Quagini and Dr. Aswell as Quagini begins to provoke him

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
