What happens
Jim Blandings, an advertising executive in New York, and his wife Muriel tire of their cramped apartment and buy an old house in Connecticut that they hope will become their dream home. Jim's lawyer friend Bill Cole raises doubts about the purchase, and the couple soon finds that renovating the old house, which they tear down to build anew, is far more expensive than planned. Their money troubles and strained household mount while Jim is also under pressure to deliver a slogan for the Wham ham account. This Screen Directors Playhouse adaptation of the 1950 Hollywood production was first broadcast on June 9, 1950, starring Cary Grant and Betsy Drake. The story is a light domestic comedy about the costs of building a home.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
