What happens

In 1850 New Orleans, Julie Marsden, a headstrong belle, defies social custom by wearing a red dress to the Olympus Ball, and her quarrel with her fiancé Preston Dillard leads to a painful break. A year later, yellow fever has struck the city and Preston returns, only to find Julie's hopes shattered by his new wife, Amy. Julie's pride and jealousy push events toward a tense confrontation at Halcyon. This is the Screen Director's Playhouse adaptation of Jezebel, broadcast on August 12, 1949, starring Betty Davis, with Gerald Moore as Preston Dillard, introduced by director William Wyler.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
