What happens

Reporter Ed Adams investigates the death of Rosita Jean Durie, a young woman who died in a Chicago hotel room, after finding her address book. Working from the names inside, he questions gangsters and wealthy men, and each contact reacts with fear or evasion. This is the Screen Directors Playhouse presentation of Chicago Deadline, broadcast on March 24, 1950, starring Alan Ladd in his original role as Ed Adams. The story follows Adams as he tries to learn the truth about Rosita's life and the people connected to her.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
