What happens

Ranger Bill is a forest ranger in the north woods, and Ralph, a ranger leaving for a promotion, is replaced by a new man, Floyd. Bill shows Floyd around the lookout tower he will staff and discusses his careful preparation and his unread Bible. Later, a severe electrical storm sweeps in and sparks fires across the woods. Floyd's tower is cut off from radio contact as a fire rushes toward it, and Bill and Stumpy head out to find him. The episode is a 1961 installment of the Ranger Bill series, and this guide covers only its first part.

A north woods ranger station and fire lookout towers near Nauti Pine, with White Lake nearby.

Characters: Ranger Bill, Ralph, Stumpy, Cal, Floyd

Listen for: Listen for the approaching storm and the fire that Floyd reports from his tower.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
