What happens

Ranger Bill investigates a series of giant pine trees that fall over for no visible reason in a national forest. A father and son, Leonard Smith and Mike, are nearly crushed when a pine topples across their truck cab, and Ranger Stumpy Jenkins reports the strange falls to his superiors. Bill Jefferson takes charge, sealing off the area while his crews examine the fallen trees and test their wood. Officials and reporters press him for answers as more trees come down. The episode is part of the Ranger Bill radio series, first broadcast on October 8, 1958.

A national forest of giant pine trees near Naughty Pine, with a visitor stop, a highway, and a ranger camp.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
