What happens

Ranger Bill, Stumpy, and Gray Wolf reach Misery Crossing after four weeks on the North Trail and stop at the ferry run by Houseboat Charlie, an old-timer who lives on his ferry with his great-grandson Junior. Charlie tells how the crossing got its name, recalling that he and his late partner Cougar West built the ferry at the only usable spot on the Shady River. Later a flash flood strikes Spring Valley, and the rangers race to warn the people in nearby canyons and valleys. Bill tries to persuade Charlie to move his ferry off the river, but the stubborn old man refuses. The broadcast is part of the Ranger Bill series, which first aired on June 19, 1957.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
