What happens

Clyde Bevans, a reporter for the Tri-City Globe Gazette, visits Henry Scott, the state's outstanding high school senior, and Bill, his cousin and friend, to learn how Henry overcame a severe spinal injury as a boy. Henry was hurt in a fall during a game and was told he might not walk again. His father, Hank, works hard to pay for his care, and Bill helps keep Henry company. Hard times follow, including the death of Henry's mother and a difficult stay in a nursing home. The account is told in Henry's and Bill's own words and recalls the family's struggles and their faith.

Tri-City, a small American town, in the late 1950s, during a reporter's visit and recollections of Henry's childhood injury and recovery.

Listen for: Henry's promise to his father that he will walk again, and the scene where Henry walks across the room to fetch the Bible.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
