What happens

Henry Scott, a student struggling with his history lessons, falls asleep over his book and dreams he is on a wagon train bound for the Oregon Territory. Ranger Bill and his friends Stumpy and Edry are with him in the study, and Stumpy suggests that Henry put himself into the historical picture. In the dream Henry meets a trapper, the wagon master Brad, and a wagon family, and he finds himself advising the travelers as tensions over the territory rise between England and America. The dream turns on Henry's knowledge of a river crossing and a route around a valley. This is a Ranger Bill episode from 1960, first aired on 1960-10-08.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
