What happens

Ranger Bill, a forest ranger, lectures to students at the State University on surviving in the mountains and forests. To make his point, he tells the story of two students, Virgil Adams and Stanley Grimshaw, who enter Fossil Canyon in the heat of the day to look for fossils. Overcome by the heat, the two men become separated, and Bill's rangers are called in to search the canyon. The guide gives the story as far as the rangers' search, with the lecture and its warnings about the canyon's dangers in the background.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
