What happens

Ranger Bill, a United States forest ranger, and his young companion Henry are sent by Colonel Landers to Pine Ridge Dam. A fast-moving forest fire is racing across Pendleton Valley, and the colonel's crews are struggling to hold it back. Bill explains that the plan is to set up a watch so that, if the fire grows out of control, the dam can be blown to flood the valley and halt the flames. Henry is given the first watch at sunset while Bill prepares camp on a hill overlooking the dam and the fire tower. The episode is part of the Ranger Bill series, and the transcript gives no original air date or cast details beyond the premise.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
