What happens

Phil Harris and Alice Faye plead with Mr. Scott to rehire their houseguest Frankie Remley, who was let go from the Rexall store. Scott agrees, but only if Frankie takes a job as a dishwasher at the soda fountain rather than returning to the band. Frankie reluctantly accepts the position. The story unfolds on the March 13, 1949 broadcast of The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show on NBC, with Phil Harris and Alice Faye in the lead roles.

The Rexall drugstore, where Mr. Scott manages the store and the soda fountain is staffed by employees including Frankie and Curly.

Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Mr. Scott, Curly, Julius

Listen for: Frankie's reluctant acceptance of the dishwashing job and the rude customer at the soda fountain who prompts Phil and Alice to intervene.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
