What happens

Phil Harris prepares for a fishing trip to celebrate Father's Day, but his family's gifts cause trouble. Alice Faye and the children have bought him a pink bed jacket, which he finds an insult to his age, and he tries to exchange it at a department store. Elliott Lewis helps him, and Curly, Phil's friend, is pulled into the shopping errands as well. The Phil Harris series aired on NBC in 1954, and its stars include Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Elliott Lewis and Gale Gordon. The story follows the family's efforts to find the right gifts and the comic mix-ups that follow.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
