What happens
Phil Harris, the band leader, is grumpy after his doctor tells him to slow down, and his wife Alice Faye suggests he take up a hobby. After a tree-climbing mishap pulls down the neighbor Mr. Galen's telephone wire, Phil and his friend Frankie visit a hobby shop, where the clerk offers a range of unusual options. Phil and Frankie then borrow a transformer for an electric train set, and the attempt to run it goes badly. Phil is tested by one mishap after another as he tries to find something to occupy his time. This episode of The Phil Harris Show aired on NBC on November 30, 1947, and is sponsored by Fitch shampoo.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
