What happens
Phil Harris and Alice Faye run their household in the Phil Harris series, broadcast on NBC on November 28, 1948, with Harris and Faye starring. After school trouble over a record, Alice is summoned to the school, and Phil and his musician friend Frankie Remley take on her chores. A washing machine mix-up and a broken set of dishes lead to a squabble, and Phil threatens to leave. Frankie and Curly Remley play along with a pretend departure, and Julius, the Harrises' household helper, gets caught up in the act. The episode is written by Ray Singer and Dick Chevrolet, with Elliot Lewis and Walter Tetley in supporting roles.
The Harris home, on a Sunday, while the children are at school
Characters: Phil Harris, Alice Faye, Frankie Remley, Julius, Miss Williams
Listen for: The washing machine mistake that ends in broken dishes, and Phil's pretend departure
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
