What happens
Winslow, an American writer who has been observing Formosa since 1937, is drawn into the activities of the Chinese underground on the island as Japan tightens its control. His contact Fang Shui Li leads a failed uprising against the Japanese garrison at Duran, and afterward the resistance goes underground. Winslow travels the island's ports, airfields and railways, noting their military importance, and later visits the Pescadores by small boat. He is increasingly watched by a Japanese agent as Japanese troops arrive in Takao. The Pacific Story, broadcast by the National Broadcasting Company on May 6, 1945, presents this account.

Listen for: The failed uprising at Duran and the Japanese plans to turn Formosa into a fortified base
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
