What happens
The Pacific Story's episode China's Secret Weapon, first broadcast on May 13, 1945, presents China's push to industrialize while fighting Japanese invasion. Narrated by Gain Whitman, with commentary by Dr. Wei Taoming, the Chinese ambassador to the United States, it follows the relocation of factories and machinery into the interior, the development of new plants for steel, electricity, chemicals and machinery, and the training of workers and foremen. It describes plans for the Yangtze River dam, the role of foreign capital, and the need to move peasants into industrial work. The program is presented by the National Broadcasting Company and its affiliated stations.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
