What happens

The Pacific Story presents a documentary account of unrest in Sinkiang, a region in northwest China. Muslim Uighur, Kazakh and other tribesmen rise against Chinese rule after years under Governor Chang, and the fighting spreads across the border region, leading to the capture of Inning. The narrator, a local herder, describes the land, its peoples and why Sinkiang matters to China, Russia and Britain. Negotiations with General Chang follow, and a petition asks for former governor Chang to be brought to trial. The episode first aired on 1947-01-05 on NBC.

Sinkiang (Xinjiang) province in northwest China, including the provincial capital Tihwa (Urumqi) and the Ili Valley border region near Inning.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
