What happens

Miss Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, finds herself caught up in the romantic troubles of her students and colleagues. Mr. Boynton, the bashful biology teacher, tries to confess his feelings to her, but is repeatedly interrupted. Meanwhile, the basketball star Stretch Snoggrass, who is about to travel with the team to the state championship, tells Miss Brooks he is in love with his best friend Walter Denton's girl, Harriet Compton, and refuses to go unless she will be in the stands. Miss Brooks tries to smooth things over, and the situation becomes increasingly tangled as the evening goes on.

Madison High School and the surrounding town of Madison, including the biology laboratory, a school gymnasium, a bus depot, and Miss Brooks's boarding house, around the time of a basketball championship trip.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
