What happens
Miss Brooks, a high school English teacher at Madison High, is serving as acting principal while Mr. Conklin is away. Walter Denton brings his homemade shortwave radio to school, and a broadcast warns of an approaching hurricane. Believing the storm is close, Miss Brooks and Harriet Conklin prepare to act, while Mr. Boynton, the biology teacher, lends his help. This is Our Miss Brooks, an old-time radio comedy series, and this episode was first broadcast on CBS Radio on October 8, 1950. Eve Arden stars as Miss Brooks, with Gale Gordon and Jeff Chandler in the cast.
Madison High School and the Conklin home, during a rainy day
Characters: Miss Brooks, Walter Denton, Harriet Conklin, Mr. Conklin, Mr. Boynton, Mrs. Davis
Listen for: The radio broadcast about a hurricane, and the confusion that follows
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
