What happens
Three short stories are dramatized on the Mercury Theater on the Air, the fifth broadcast of the series, presented by Orson Welles. The first, Sherwood Anderson's I'm a Fool, follows a young man at a trotting race in Sandusky, Ohio, who tries to impress a girl named Lucy Woodbury with a string of lies about his family and his wealth. The second, Saki's The Open Window, introduces Framton Nuttel, a nervous visitor who arrives at Mrs. Sappleton's country house. The third, Carl Ewald's My Little Boy, is narrated by a father describing his young son's first encounters with the world and with money. The series is broadcast on CBS.

Listen for: Orson Welles reading the opening introduction and the three stories, with the first story following Walter Mathers at the Sandusky races.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
