What happens

Margot Lane listens with Cranston to a live performance of the opera Pagliacci, where the tenor Hagen Radkoff lost his voice the previous week. Cranston senses that the tragedy is not over and begins an investigation. He confronts Commissioner Weston, who doubts him, and later warns the opera board that the killings are deliberate. Cranston proposes staging Pagliacci again while guarding every singer, and the company's directors must decide whether the season will continue. The story builds toward the opera house on the night of the next performance.

A city opera house, its board room, and the commissioner's office, during a run of the opera Pagliacci

Characters: Cranston, Margot Lane, Commissioner Weston, Hagen Radkoff, Mike

Listen for: Cranston's warnings to Commissioner Weston and the opera board, and the events of the night of the performance

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
