What happens

Henry Parcher and his household on April Street deal with the restlessness of their teenage children and their guests during a summer. Willie Baxter, seventeen, is embarrassed when he is sent through town with his family's laundry tubs, and he falls for Lola Pratt, a visitor staying with the Parchers. His younger sister Jane chatters about the adults she overhears, and the neighbourhood talk turns to love and marriage. This is an adaptation of Booth Tarkington's 17, broadcast on The Mercury Theatre on the Air on 16 October 1938, with Orson Welles playing William Sylvanus Baxter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
