What happens
Harry Lime, a smooth dealer in objets d'art, pursues a valuable emerald locket worn by wealthy American widow Mrs. Donaldson in prewar Naples. Helped by her companion Amy Collins, Lime keeps close to the pair, gaining their trust over a shopping trip and an evening out. Rubio, Lime's former partner, has been confronting him in the hotel and watching his movements. Lime's efforts to win the locket lead the group on a late drive to the ruins of Pompeii, where the night takes a dangerous turn. This episode is part of the Mercury Theatre on the Air series, broadcast on August 10, 1951, with Orson Welles as Harry Lime.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
