What happens
Ellie Andrews, a spoiled heiress, is held aboard her father's yacht after she married aviator King Westley, whom her father considers a fake. She refuses to eat and fights off the crew as the boat prepares to sail. Ellie escapes, and on a bus bound for New York she meets Peter Grant, a newspaperman who has just quit his job. The two travel together, bickering as they go, and are forced to share a cramped auto camp cabin. The Campbell Playhouse presents this adaptation of It Happened One Night, the 1934 film, on the Mercury Theatre on the Air series, first broadcast January 28, 1940, with William Powell and Miriam Hopkins as the leads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
