What happens
Harry Lime, fleeing trouble in Paris after a theft, takes passage to England and meets Helen, a grey-eyed young woman who invites him to stay at her village home. There he meets her uncles, Gregory and John Carew, retired scientists who spend their nights in a laboratory at the top of the house, pursuing the secret of making gold. Harry grows uneasy after discovering the laboratory's books on witchcraft and the hand of glory. The Mercury Theatre on the Air presents this episode, which first aired on January 11, 1952, and features the Harry Lime character from The Third Man.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
