What happens
Harriet Craig runs her household with rigid control, and when her husband Walter returns from a trip with her aunt Austen, tensions rise sharply. Her niece Ethel has come to stay and confides her engagement to a professor, which Harriet dismisses with cool suspicion. Austen, feeling excluded and disapproving of Harriet's handling of the house, announces she will leave. Walter learns that a caller has been trying to reach him, and the household's suspicions and grievances begin to surface. This Mercury Theatre on the Air presentation of Craig's Wife, a stage play that won the Pulitzer Prize, is performed with Anne Harding in the role of Mrs. Craig, replacing Faye Bainter, who was ill. The broadcast was originally aired on March 10, 1940.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
