What happens
Irma Peterson, a scatterbrained young woman living in New York City, shares an apartment with her steady roommate Jane. Irma is preparing for her birthday, and Jane plans a costume party for her, inviting friends including Professor Kropotkin, Mrs. O'Reilly, and Richard Rhinelander, along with Al, Irma's boyfriend. Irma wants to add Richard's mother to the guest list, and Jane has doubts about the idea. The episode is from the My Friend Irma series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on November 29, 1948, with Marie Wilson as Irma and Cathy Lewis as Jane.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
