What happens
Jane Stacey lives with her friend Irma, whose well-meaning but scatterbrained ideas keep Jane on edge. On what Jane insists is an ordinary Friday, Irma becomes convinced it is Jane's birthday, sings to her, presents a telegram and plans a surprise party. Al and Richard are drawn into the confusion as Jane tries to keep her temper. My Friend Irma is a comedy from the CBS Radio network, first broadcast on May 2, 1947, with Marie Wilson as Irma, Cathy Lewis as Jane, Hans Conried as Richard and Alan Reed as Al.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
