What happens
Irma and her roommate Jane live in a cramped apartment and spend a warm April day on their fire escape. Irma's boyfriend Al, who has recently found steady work, begins to worry that she is not clever enough for him and tells her she must improve her mind or he may end their relationship. Desperate, Irma tries a series of schemes, from correspondence to a letter to Professor Einstein, and her efforts keep bringing trouble to Jane and to her employer, Mr. Clyde. This is an episode of the OTRR My Friend Irma Singles collection, originally broadcast on CBS Radio on April 28, 1953, starring Marie Wilson, Cathy Lewis, Hans Conried and Alan Reed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
