What happens
Irma Peterson is convinced that her boyfriend Al will propose on Valentine's Day, and she fills her hope chest accordingly. Her roommate Jane doubts Al can hold down a job, and Jane's boyfriend Richard, a self-made man, lends Al a thousand dollars to start a business. Al uses the money to buy a heavyweight boxer named Billy Boy, whose knee tends to buckle in the ring. Al, Irma and Jane are drawn into the boxer's fortunes as a match against Gentleman Jim McKenzie approaches.
New York City, an apartment shared by Irma and Jane, with a gym and a boxing ring as the later locations.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
