What happens

Joe Kirby, a recently fired car salesman, goes looking for Steve Wurtzel, who owes him two hundred dollars, and ends up at a bar with his friend Terry O'Connor. Later that night Steve is found dead, and Joe becomes the prime suspect when the police arrive at his apartment. Joe and his companions, including the reporter Hannah Van Doren, try to clear his name while more deaths follow. This is the Molle Mystery Theatre, first broadcast on 28 December 1943, and the story is told in the first person by Joe Kirby.

Los Angeles, 1943, in bars, an apartment, a racetrack and the O'Connor home

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
