What happens
Captain Bradford and his girl commander Elaine survive a night adrift in the ocean after the Magic Island sank again. At dawn the crew of Mrs. Gregory's chartered rescue boat spots them clinging to a small life raft and brings them aboard. Bradford then takes charge of the situation, radioing the Euclidean leader Thales with orders that the colony must leave the city and board the rescue boat through the surface airlock, under threat of flooding Euclidea. Thales agrees to the plan with surprisingly little resistance, and the Euclideans begin coming up out of the water one at a time while the crew prepares to receive them.
