What happens
Joan Gregory and Jerry Hall are trapped aboard the stolen Euclidean submarine, anchored on the ocean floor in 9,000 feet of water, while the Euclidians have located them there. Joan explains to her companions that a musical note could shatter the boat, and she devises a plan to drop the stern section to change the vessel's center of gravity. Her mother, Mrs. Gregory, and Captain Bradford are asked to clear the stern compartment of loose supplies so that the section can be released. Jerry struggles to follow Joan's reasoning as everyone prepares for an attack that could come at any moment.
