What happens

Professor Richard Wanley, a quiet and scholarly associate professor, lingers before an art gallery window and is drawn to a portrait of an attractive woman. He is invited into the woman's apartment, where a drink turns into a violent confrontation with a man who attacks them both. The woman, Alice Reed, and Wanley must decide what to do with the dead man and how to keep the matter hidden. The story is the Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of The Woman in the Window, broadcast on June 25, 1945, starring Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett and Dan Duryea.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
