What happens

Peter Morgan, a young college professor, hurries to catch a train home to Old Sharon with his cousin Keith Besten, who has been carousing in New York. Keith has fallen for a torch singer, and Peter, on the phone with his father, is ordered to bring him home. Peter meets the singer, Francie Brent, and, in an impulsive mood, the two spend an evening together in the city. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the RKO picture Vivacious Lady, starring Alice Faye and James Ellison, aired on January 6, 1941, and the episode presents its first act.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
