What happens
Anne Crandall, the mayor of Brookhaven, Vermont, opposes the town's plan to remove the statue of her late husband, Jonathan, after it is damaged by lightning. Her daughter Diana and her father-in-law Father Crandall press her on the matter. To give the town a new statue, Anne hires sculptor George Corday, and during a trip to New York she meets him and spends an unusual evening with him. The play is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, first broadcast on December 9, 1946, and stars Irene Dunne and Walter Pidgeon.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
