What happens
Mae Wacy runs a marriage brokerage from an office on the second floor of a New York building, matching lonely clients with prospective spouses for a fee. Her assistant Hazel helps with the paperwork while Mae takes on new clients, including a shy young woman named Kitty Bennett and a wealthy optician who is hard to please. A mix-up with handbags brings Kitty into Mae's orbit, and Mae soon becomes involved in the romantic lives of several people around the office. This is the first part of the Lux Radio Theatre play starring Jean Crane and Thelma Ritter, broadcast on October 6, 1952.

Listen for: Mae's quick, wry banter with her clients and the mix-up over the two identical handbags.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
