What happens

Lily David, a stenographer in New York, spends an evening with Pete Dawes, a newspaper reporter, watching the street from a park bench and talking about love. Lily later meets Charles Gray, a man who claims to be a nobody without a job, and the two quickly fall for each other. Her romance with Charles is tested when a newspaper story reveals his true identity. This Lux Radio Theatre production, based on the Paramount film The Gilded Lily, was first broadcast on January 11, 1937, and stars Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray, with David Niven and George Chandler also appearing.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
