What happens

Joe, a soldier on leave, meets Alice, a secretary, in New York's Pennsylvania Station after his shoe heel breaks and she helps him find a repair shop. The two spend a Sunday together, riding a bus, visiting a museum and talking about their home lives and hopes. Later, Alice's roommate Helen questions her about the stranger she has met, and Alice agrees to see Joe again before he returns to camp. This Lux Radio Theatre production is an adaptation of the 1945 film The Clock, starring Judy Garland and John Hodiak.

New York City, Pennsylvania Station, Fifth Avenue and Central Park, 1940s spring and early summer

Characters: Joe, Alice, Helen, Freddie, Bill, Al

Listen for: Joe's first meeting with Alice in Pennsylvania Station and their conversation on the double-decker bus.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
